Ještě rychle zpět k úspěchu Češek na dubnovém Mistrovství Evropy ve Volosu… O finále ženského ME píše červnový International GYMNAST… S "veteránkou" Janou K. počítá před Mistrovstvím světa v Dánsku i zámoří :-)
“The vault final was considerably weaker than in years past, and most of the gymnasts struggled with showing a strong second vault. Lanky Anna Grudko (Russia) won the gold with a gorgeous double-twisting Yurchenko. despite a second vault of only a tucked Khorkina (Yurchenko half- on, tucked Cuervo off).
Ukrainian Olga Scher batykh had poor execution on her double-twist ing Yurchenko, but her stuck second vault (layout Podkopayeva) helped her earn the silver. Ger many 's Katja Abel won the bronze with a Yurchenko-1/4 and piked barani. Veteran Jana Komrskova boomed a Podkopayeva, which looks so high she can probably easily lay it out or add an extra twist. Komrskova, who also vaulted a clean but simple Yurchenko-full, has had to change her second vault (usually a piked barani) to accommodate the new rule that requires two different post-flights.
The bars final offered redemption for Tweddle, who earned the best result of her career with the gold.
Third at the Europeans in 2002 and second in 2004, Tweddle had been forced to withdraw in 2005 after falling from bars in the warm-up and suffering a concussion.
Tweddle won the gold with an all-new routine that earned 16.100, the highest score of the entire championships: toe-on blind change Markelov to Gienger; toe-on Tkatchev to Pak; Maloney; giant-full to immediate full-twisting double dismount. "I feel fantastic," Tweddle said. "I knew I was good enough to win the title, but I also knew I had to deliver a spotless performance. I am so happy and relieved now!" The Czech Republic's Jana Sikulova won the silver (inside-Stalder, inside-Stalder-full to Gien ger; stuck double front dismount). De Simone (Jaeger, arrow straight double layout) won the bronze for Spain with excellent execution...”
